How Aromasin Works
In breast cancer, many cancer cells are stimulated to multiply by progesterone and estrogen, which are sex hormones in women. They are known as hormone receptor positive or hormone sensitive. Inhibiting the effects of those hormones may help treat breast cancer. In females who have gone through menopause, estrogen is primarily formed from androgens through aromatization, which occurs in the skin, muscle, and tissues. This process requires a special type of enzyme called aromatase to complete. Aromasin is a type of aromatase inhibitors, which work by blocking aromatization and reducing the estrogen levels in the body. The medication can prevent cancer recurrence in early breast cancer and slow down the growth of tumors in advanced phases. [3]
