What Triggers a Shingles Outbreak?

Signs and Symptoms of Shingles

Shingles often cause symptoms in only a small part on one side of the body. Common signs include itching, sensitivity to touch, tingling, numbness, burning, pain, red rashes, and fluid-filled blisters that would break open. Some individuals may also experience fatigue, sensitivity to light, headache, or fever. Pain tends to be the earliest symptom, which can be intense. You may mistake the sensation for kidney, lung, or heart issues, depending on the affected part. In people with shingles, rash typically occurs as a strip of blisters covering around the right or left of the torso. Sometimes, it may appear on the face, neck, or eye as well. [3]
