What Does the Excretory System Do?

Ureters

Each human body has two ureters. Each of them is the extension of the renal pelvis and comes out of each kidney. In general, a ureter is a thin and small tube with approximately 25 centimeters long. It is responsible for transporting urine from the kidneys to the urinary bladder. Both parts descend from the kidneys’ renal pelvis, along your posterior abdominal wall, and then enter the bladder. The wall of the ureters has 3 layers. The fibrous coat is the outer part, which supports fibrous connective tissue. The muscular coat is the middle layer, which propels the urine. Lastly, the mucosa is the inner layer, which secretes mucus to protect the cells’ surface. [4]
