Amongst these are those who suffer from allergies, especially allergic rhinitis which is a major risk factor for both acute and chronic sinusitis. The presence of a disease that lowers your immunity is a risk factor you wouldn’t want to ignore. Such diseases include HIV, blood cancers, multiple myeloma, etc. Some other disease conditions that carry a higher risk of sinusitis include cystic fibrosis, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and some autoimmune diseases.
