Children with Long COVID
A study of children’s health records between 2020 and 2021 reveals that pediatric cases of long COVID are relatively rare. After reviewing electronic health records provided by PEDSnet, researchers found that approximately 9% of children receiving a Covid test have tested positive, while only 4% of these children experienced post-Covid conditions 1-6 months after infections.
Though infected children will have some symptoms such as cough, chills, heart inflammation, change in taste, change in smell, chest pain, and tiredness like adults, it is worth noting neurological symptoms, including headache, brain fog, memory loss, or tingling pain are less common among children. Besides, children with long Covid also have skin rashes, abnormal liver enzymes, diarrhea, and skin rashes. [4]
