Disease-Modifying Treatments
Disease-modifying treatments target particular changes in the body that happen during a relapse of multiple sclerosis. It helps slow the progression and prevent relapses in the future. Many studies have suggested that this treatment can be especially effective if used in the early stages. Currently, the Food and Drug Administration has authorized many disease-modifying treatments for people with multiple sclerosis. In general, this treatment can be a first-line option or an ongoing therapy, perhaps combined with steroids. [8]
