Multiple Myeloma – Causes & Risk Factors

Race

Multiple myeloma would be caused by several hereditary factors. The condition would be passed down from generation to generation. This means that those people with parents, siblings, or close relatives suffering from the health issue would be especially at higher risks. Many studies have shown that multiple myeloma is more prevalent in Mediterranean countries, North Africa, and the Middle East. In addition, the risk is more than twice as common in those people with African heritage. The exact reason for these differences is still unclear. Regular health checks are important to diagnose and treat the condition early before it progresses and causes further complications. [4]
