Gum Graft Pain What to Expect & How to Relieve Pain

Types of Gum Graft

There are 3 main types of gum graft:

– Free gingival graft: This type is done to people with fragile gum tissue that should be reinforced. In this procedure, a dentist will get a small tissue sample from the palate and put it into the existing tissue in the tooth.

– Connective tissue graft: It is the most common form of gum graft. Doctors often implement this procedure for different parts of recession. This type involves the taking of underlying connective tissue from the mouth of the roof and put it to the exposed roots.

– Pedicle graft: This type uses gum tissue close to the exposed roots. It should be done only when the tissue is healthy and thick. The dentist needs to get a sample of healthy tissue and then attach it over the roots. [2]
