Changes in Stool Shape
The shape of stools in people with colon cancer can be different from others. They are narrower and thinner, which are usually described as pencil-like or ribbon-like. This symptom occurs when the colon is narrowed due to a partial blockage of the tumor. In general, the colon is quite similar to a hollow tube. When cancerous cells grow inside this organ, they would obstruct your stool’s flow. This leads to noticeable changes in the stool shape.
