Colon Cancer – Symptoms & Causes

Changes in Stool Shape

The shape of stools in people with colon cancer can be different from others. They are narrower and thinner, which are usually described as pencil-like or ribbon-like. This symptom occurs when the colon is narrowed due to a partial blockage of the tumor. In general, the colon is quite similar to a hollow tube. When cancerous cells grow inside this organ, they would obstruct your stool’s flow. This leads to noticeable changes in the stool shape. The more advanced the stages your colon cancer is in, the thinner your stools would be. [6]
