Depression

Anorexia is often accompanied by symptoms of depression, anxiety, etc. People with anorexia may not derive pleasure from doing things that give people joy. They are highly sensitive to criticism, failure, and mistakes and this could make them easily depressed. Abnormal levels in certain hormones such as cortisol which could be caused by poor eating habit can lead to mood swings, irregular appetite, impulsive behavior, anxiety, and depression. Again, reducing food intake can lead to a deficiency of nutrients involved in mood regulation.[8]
