Common Pathogens and How They Affect Us

Bacteria

Bacteria are comprised of only a single cell. There are many varieties of bacteria with different features and shapes. These microorganisms can live in any conditions, both on and in the human body. It is important to know that not all types of bacteria lead to infections. Only pathogenic bacteria can.

We are more susceptible to a bacterial infection when the immune system becomes weaker by a virus. To treat this condition, your doctor might prescribe antibiotics. Due to the overuse of these medications, many types of bacteria can now develop resistance. This makes it much harder to treat infections.
