Rapid Aging After Hysterectomy
Most cases of rapid aging after hysterectomy happen in women who have both of their ovaries removed. In other words, a hysterectomy with oophorectomy is associated with age-related health problems. In contrast, a hysterectomy alone does not lead to any significant effect on aging or hormone levels. The main reason is that the ovaries play an important role in releasing estrogen, also known as the female hormone. Studies have shown that an unexpected loss of this estrogen may cause menopause symptoms and health problems related to aging. [3]
