Lewy Body Dementia – Symptoms, Causes & Treatments

Other Risk Factors

As you get aged, the risk of having Lewy body dementia is significantly increased. On average, most of the reported cases are from 50 to 85 years old, even though it would happen in people of all ages. The peak range is around 70 to 79 years old. When it comes to gender, men are often at higher risk than women due to some genetic factors. The number of male patients is estimated to be two times as many as female patients. Another risk factor is the history of removing ovaries in women. Interestingly, smokers are often at a lower risk, but the reason is still unclear. [11]
