Risk Factors
Klinefelter syndrome tends to be more common when parents give birth to their children in older ages, especially after 35 years old. A pregnant woman who is more than 40 years old is 3 times more likely to deliver an infant with this disorder than a woman who is 30 years old. Currently, scientists have not found out any risk factors that would trigger defects in chromosomes. However, it is necessary to know that Klinefelter syndrome is a genetic but not an inherited disorder. This means it will not run in families. [7]
