Stages
A fever blister often develops in several stages when it happens. Firstly, you can feel a burning, itching, or tingling sensation around your mouth and lips. Glands might begin to swell. Next, the blisters usually show up more. Other symptoms like irritation and pain can develop. After a few days, the blisters break and start to ooze. A yellow crust will appear on top of the blisters and scab off, which uncovers pink skin. It would heal over time without leaving a scar. [5]
