Restrictions on Medicare Cost Plans
Medicare Advantage provides a network of providers based on country. To ensure each plan offers sufficient access to those in rural neighbourhood, the government requires insurance firms to make sure that at least 90 percent of Medicare beneficiaries in a particular country may get at least 1 provider of each specialty in the proper distance and time. Since its first introduction in 1997, Medicare Advantage was not easy to access by people in rural areas. That’s why Medicare Cost Plans exist. However, as more options for Medicare Advantage are available, the government is gradually removing Medicare Cost Plans. From 2019, these plans were eliminated from counties in which at least 2 Medicare Advantage plans were provided in the previous year. [8]
