Natural Diuretics
Some herbal supplements and foods may provide a diuretic effect and increase urination. Be aware of them as taking diuretics with these products simultaneously would result in dehydration and other harmful interactions. Some natural diuretics include:
– Celery: Some studies have shown positive effects of celery on reducing blood pressure. Compared to the vegetable itself, celery extract could be more potent.
– Ginger root: Typically help with nausea, scientists have found that ginger in any form would help alleviate symptoms of hypertension.
– Garlic: With many antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, garlic can be used for treating hypertension. Like celery, garlic extract is more potent than whole garlic.
Other plants and foods with a positive effect on hypertension include ginseng, lemongrass, saffron, coriander, cilantro, and tea. [7]
